Palm Sunday. Jesus triumphantly enters Jerusalem only to experience a fickle crowd as the week progresses. Yet, the shouts of Hosanna! or Crucify Him! never sway him from his identity as the beloved child of God. Jesus walks his way from the joyful gates of the city, to the upper room, to the betrayal in the garden and finally to the hill of Calvary. We, too, walk our own way with our own cross - knowing that for Jesus and for us it doesn't end in sorrow and death.
I'll see you in church,

March Deacon’s Corner
St. Michaels family,
Spring is in the air and soon we’ll be able to enjoy the good ole Michigan outdoors. I know Kitty and I are looking forward to it.
I hope you’re enjoying your Lenten season and are making time for prayer, reflection and repentance. Remember Lent is not just about “giving something up” but making space for God, and for others.
We will be making bag lunches on the 12th of April from noon to 1 p.m. We have enough lunch and sandwich bags but juice boxes and cookies are always appreciated.
Remember to keep Patti Bushway and Carol Truesdell in your prayers for healing and to continue to pray for each other. May you enjoy this month of April and always be mindful of the needs of others.
Peace,
Deacon Rob+

Memorial Lamps - The experience of the pandemic is highlighting what is truly important to our community. It is apparent that the need for fresh flowers on the altar each week is not a burning desire. With that in mind, we will halt the regular purchase of flowers but continue to accept memorial donations for lamps. These donations support our worship supplies such as bread, wine, linens, candles, and oils. Please contact Tracey on reserving a date. Dates Available: 4/20 (one) 4/27 (two). Lamps are $7 each
Let us pray for peace: Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen. (BCP pg 815)

All the service providers in the city were invited to gather with leaders including the Mayor, City Council, School officials, our Judge and from neighboring churches. It was a time to network and uncover good practices to make these services more readily available to our residents.
We were pleased to have a good turn out and active participation from all who attended. Your rector, deacon and your social work interns are hard at work to make good things happen in our city!

A HOLY WEEK WALK WITH JESUS
Palm Sunday - 10:30 a.m. April 13
We hear the story of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem then process with our blessed palms through the church. Our liturgy continues with participation in the reading of the Passion narrative and the sharing of Eucharist.
Maundy Thursday - 6:30 p.m. April 17
We follow the mandate of Jesus, to serve one another. Jesus gave the example by washing his disciples' feet. It was a duty that a servant did when guests came to one's home. No task, therefore, is beneath us when we do what Jesus has done.
Eucharist is celebrated within the context of a supper in the undercroft. Afterwards we silently process with candles to the church where we spend some time with Jesus as he did in the garden.
Good Friday - 7:00 p.m. April 18
Conversations by the Cross
We listen in on conversations that bystanders experienced on Jesus' walk to Calvary. These dramas will be punctuated with solo, choir, and congregational hymns. We will close with the traditional sharing of Communion.
ENJOY A PANCAKE BREAKFAST
SUNDAY, APRIL 13, 8:30 to 10 a.m.
Our breakfast includes pancakes, orange juice, and sausage. Free will offering.

CRAFT FAIR
Thanks to all the crafters, shoppers, concessions workers, bakers, volunteers who set up, cleaned up, sold raffle tickets and kept the event on track. Congratulations to all the hard work! It netted us over $1,000 towards our operating expenses.
Yoga Classes
Classes begin in our undercroft on Wednesday, April 23 at 6:00 p.m. with certified yoga trainer Jane Gibson. Please bring a mat and a small blanket ready to stretch, relax, and meditate.
Must have experience with yoga - this is not a beginner's class. $45 for six classes.
