This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of our patron, St. Michael and All Angels. We have three special readings for this day which focus on angels - the story of Jacob and his ladder; the sayings of Jesus to his apostle Nathaniel; and the struggle of Michael overcoming evil in heaven. In our liturgy we pray that we join angels and archangels in praising God as we sing, Holy, Holy, Holy.
Jacob says, "Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place!" We say it too! Certainly the evidence of God's hand is at work in so many ways at St. Michael's. Can you feel it? Or maybe I'm like the questioning Nathaniel - Lord, how did you come to know us?
I wonder that our God uses intermediaries like angels (or even us common folks) to act on his behalf. Isn't it amazing that God includes us all in his redeeming plan?
I'll see you in church,
Paula+
Deacon’s Corner
St. Michaels Family,
I hope everyone had a fun and safe summer.
Kitty and I and Don Bilinski passed out 22 lunches on the 4th of August. That is up about 12 lunches previously. Some of the people said they knew about the free lunches from our new electronic sign out front, so it is making a difference already. And a big thank you to Brent for helping pack the lunches.
I presided at my first Prayer in the Park on August 6th. It was a beautiful evening for an evening prayer service, and I am honored to be a part of this tradition that Rev. Lynda Carter started years ago.
If you know of anyone who would like a pastoral visit either at home or in the hospital, please pass the info on to us. Continue to pray for one another and always be mindful of the needs of others.
Peace,
Deacon Rob+

Memorial Lamps - The experience of the pandemic is highlighting what is truly important to our community. It is apparent that the need for fresh flowers on the altar each week is not a burning desire. With that in mind, we will halt the regular purchase of flowers but continue to accept memorial donations for lamps. These donations support our worship supplies such as bread, wine, linens, candles, and oils. Please contact Tracey on reserving a date. Lamps are $7 each 9/28 (one).
Let us pray for peace: Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen. (BCP pg 815)

ST. MICHAEL'S STREET MINISTRY
All of our efforts to help the folks who find themselves on the street are reaching numerous people. The plarn mats keep those sleeping at the bandshell or in the park off the ground. The food in the Blessing Box is a gift to those who drop by.
Your support of these ministries brings the gospel of love outside of our walls and to the people we are called to serve. God bless each one of you!
