Today's Gospel reading marks the beginning of the disciples' transition from novice students into active ministry. Jesus is sending them out to heal as he did because he saw that the people were "harassed and helpless." And as the names of those disciples are listed, Jesus remarks that the laborers are too few and the harvest is plentiful. I believe that is a call to you and to me to step up and show up!
We are given the same mission that Jesus gave his disciples – we are to bring healing, love, forgiveness and compassion to our neighbors outside these walls. I know we have the muscle, we have the savvy, we have the know-how, we have the faith in God and in each other to live out the mission we are challenged with.
I'll see you in church,

Memorial Lamps - The experience of the pandemic is highlighting what is truly important to our community. It is apparent that the need for fresh flowers on the altar each week is not a burning desire. With that in mind, we will halt the regular purchase of flowers but continue to accept memorial donations for lamps. These donations support our worship supplies such as bread, wine, linens, candles, and oils. Please contact Tracey on reserving a date. Lamps are $7 each
Let us pray for peace: Eternal God, in whose perfect kingdom no sword is drawn but the sword of righteousness, no strength known but the strength of love: So mightily spread abroad your Spirit, that all peoples may be gathered under the banner of the Prince of Peace, as children of one Father; to whom be dominion and glory, now and for ever. Amen. (BCP pg 815)

ELECTRONIC GIVING
We now have two ways of donating online. Both require a handling fee and have a lag time when the funds are available to us.
PayPal can send donations to our church Credit Union account for 2.5% and the funds are ready in two days. The Diocese charges 2.9% and our funds aren't transferred to us until the third day of the following month.
Your gifts are appreciated! I invite you to choose your option.

New Hire Announcement
In advance of Judy’s retirement on June 30, 2026, I am pleased to announce that we have hired a new Executive Assistant and Bookkeeper to carry forward this important work. Please join me in warmly welcoming Joseph Gause to St. Michael’s.
Joseph brings a wealth of experience in accounting, finance, and audit. He spent nearly a decade at General Motors as Manager of Cost Accounting and Payroll, followed by another decade at Toyota Motors as Manager of Cost Control, Budgets, and Internal Controls. Most recently, he retired in 2025 from People’s Express, where he served as Manager of Accounting, IT, and Human Resources.
Joseph lives in Westland with his wife of 45 years, Lerona and is actively involved in his church, Saving Faith Christian Fellowship Church in Ypsilanti, where he serves as a minister and organist. Together, they have five children and five grandchildren.
Joseph will begin his role on June 16, 2026, and will work closely with Judy through the end of the month to ensure a smooth transition and to learn all that goes into supporting the life and mission of St. Michael’s.
I am confident that Joseph will be a wonderful addition to our “little church doing big things.” I look forward to introducing him to all of you and to working with him in the months and years ahead.
